People, I need a pick me up fast otherwise I'm gonna start pontificating like Pink with her ass on fire.
So far, Chinese New Year has gotten me nothing more than the influx of exams (pfft, but thats to be expected eh?), constant not-so pleasant reminders from my mom I am to do the honours for toilet-cleaning and my bank account is soooo in the red, I think I've invented a whole new shade.

Thank you, World.
~~~
Lol, that was an entry I typed jus days before the CNY, and I'm a changed person. With the suckiness comes the highs that make up for it.
And weakened as I may from the ever so common fever and flu combo, here I am back again to make tht customary entry on our hallowed Chinese Festival. Really have to cut down on the gluttony.
Lunar New Year, wats there not love, really?
You give your most radiant smile, sprout a well-wish or two (and mean it of course) and a well-anticipated red packet in exchange for your efforts. Not to mention the usual goodies of Bak Kua, chocolates and fizzy drink. Given the running risk of putting on that dread pounds during this festive season, but thank goodness for accelerated metabolism rate. Ok, ppl hate me if you must. :P:P
Another reason to love it? New clothes..a new wardrobe! Shoes and bags and all those other little 'sweeties' that make a girl look as sweet as she is. Uncle Meng gave me his WHOLE DIABLO game set!! Still reeling from the surprise, I'm trying to figure how I'll play it on a lap-top.
And trust me, frantic navigating a game character with a touchpad is total suicide. Not to mention u end up with a sore thumb jus a few mins into the game.
Plus, can't wait to hit post-CNY sales tomolo with the girls; crossing my fingers tht it won't be too crowded since there's the Chingay celebrations going on.
Better put on me best weekend shoes. ;)
Listening to: She's so high by Tal bachan
Once, a long time ago(actually not that long)... I had a secret fantasy of wanting to be a model. Yeah I know. Like that's ever gonna happen thanks to my 'shortie-chronosomes' but hey a girl can dream. But ah well.
No words can describe The Motorola Black Fashion Show. It was all that I had expected and even more. From 11.30am all the way to late at night, it was nonstop fussying bout. Four brands that were represented: Hansel, Nicholas, Mizu and Baylene; and they had some of the sleekiest cuttings and designs as far as haute couture goes. (I later found out that some of the outfits I had been 'manhandling' cost more that $300!! *faints*)
But of course, the prices weren't the only things that sent my poor ol' heart palpitating like a bloody jack-hammer.
Being the noob that I was, I had no idea what the job scope of a dresser consisted. So when Joanna and Katya (the two towering, exquisite models that I was in charge of) just stripped to their birthday suits, I was the epitome of a bumbling idiot. Literally la.
I mean, come on! Gorgeous babes with boobs the size of my head, thrusting themselves infront of me to be changed at the speed of light. And I'm a GIRL. I really wonder how those male professional dressers handle it. *takes hat off and salute*
But after a while, I got pretty used to it. Tho I was really lousy at kept screwing up (I wore Joanna's pants the wrong side for her; Katya's necklace got entangled in her hair! Cringes with utmost embarrassment.) And it was a crazyass success at the end..definitely worth all the trouble. :)
Plus, my baby specially came down to see me. so sweet...i love u darhling. The Mac dinner and long walk around nowhere in particular was really a romantic way to end the fantastic day. lol!
Not to mention I made a few cool frens like Sarah from TP Design and Drew from well..i dunno. :P There was even this guy, I SWEAR, who was like J. Alexander from AMerica's Next Top Model? He was also a professional trainer for catwalking, and man, did he make those black bejeweled heels work! ANd..this bloody tall Caucasian male model who kept pretending he couldnt see us cos he was like 1.9m tall?! lol...I threatened to cut 'his' with my scissors.
I even pestered Drew to get me one of their Bobbi Brown goody bags! I love goody bags. ^^
~~~

Phew. Three down and jus 1 more to go. JNB was a nerve-wrecker today and I'm more than relieved its over. Then its ang-pow collecting, spa, manicures, shopping spree and making-out galore.

Listening to: Don't wanna miss a Thing by Aerosmith

Ha! The irony. As in, the now that I'm supposed to be mugging my brains out for the PR paper, but Caylynn and I agree that strange as it seems; we seem to be slacking away tho the worry is there. Hmm..wonder when I'll ever outgrow my slothy ways and childish impulses (of which most of my brethen will prolly answer that with a resounding 'NEVER' followed by loud and obnoxious laughter.)

Am thinking of going for a Spa and manicure, ending with dinner on Fri with the girls. I'm having second thoughts tho. Sucks majorly when you wanna go places but am held by punitive financial barriers. (read: my sad, sad cash flow). I BLOODY HELL NEED A JOB. PRONTO!!

(No guesses why I'm especially looking forward to CNY this year too. :P)

Speaking of which..I'll be working at DXO this coming Sat. The Black Fashion Carnival; to be exact and many thanks to Tess for the job. Its a one-time thing, and tho the pay isn't all that fantastic, I'm hoping the fashion show will make up for it. Lord knows how much I dig this sorta glitzyglamour stuff.
SO~~~ here's my plea again. Any part-time jobs or one-time assignment lobangs u loves out there have, do count me in k? Desperado here.

Sleepy blogger off to LalaLand for now. nite!

Oh watever la.

I've mugged just about enuff for the dreaded TVRP papers, tomolo.

Guess soundbytes, camera equipment and FTAs are not my cup of tea.

I'll leave everything into God's hands. *prostrate on floor in silent prayer* yikes//

Now...just in time to cash in on the whole Memoirs of A Geisha.

A trailer with a "twist"...if you will. Hold onto your sanity, really.

Listening to: Bad Day by Daniel Powter

I think I'm a truly horrible organiser. lol, been rushing tons of stuff the past week but fortunately managed to get Mena's 21st birthday surprise back on track. It was just ridden with near-misses, last minute changes and even a couple of times that I nearly gave the game away.
Damn my mouth. Ah well..

Thus, I'll just let the pictures do the pictures do the talking. Courtesy of my brudder Chris, whose Motorola camera has successfully made us look as white as pontianaks. A gathering of ghouls? Ha!

The whole gang at Swensens (Crown Prince Hotel); with special guests Hanhui and Eka. Bon appetit!

The VIP (Very Impertinient Princess. lol, jokin la!) makes her choice of meal. Some pasta-seafood thingie? haha.. crayfish, i think.

NOT even gonna give Sherry a piece of mind when the VIP feeds her. hee~

Loverboy here gets a piece too. But sexy, it aint... ^^

Chris, otherwise known as boyfren to Menaka and Brudder to moi. Totally taking in the moment eh? *nudgenudge*

Of course... I can't forget about the mastermind-ress herself, can i?

Aww...now's not a time to get embarrassed! Note: I bought the purple tiara from Toys R Us. Nice yeah?

Chillin' and pimpin' in the ever chic Indochine (Wisma Atria). Which was the second part of the surprise. //

Nocturnal babe. Single and Allllllll so available, guys...

Bathed in her birthday glow...she shines like a star. :)

As for me? I'm always glowing what!! lol...

And that marks the end of our late night Orchard escapade. Boy, can't I wait for Sherry and Justin's birthday...and more of the craziness to come!

Oh man. I just realised that Olivia Goldsmith, proud author some of the best novels such as First Wives Club, had actually passed on due to a blotched plastic surgery. Scary, and sad.

And speaking of which, a distant grand-aunt of mine(maternal) had recently passed on too. Its a pity that I wasn't close to her, but am going to pay my last respects, with my family, later. And then it suddenly hits you, that as cliched as it sounds; life is indeed fragile and precious. I begin to panic a little, when I calculate how much I've time I have to spend with loved ones and friends before I meet the Big Guy Up There. lol...

But we do what we all can I guess. coughMADMADPARTYcough// :P

When it rains, it certainly pours. The last few days saw nothing but me scurrying frantically for cover just when I thought it was once again safe to come out. Sky's being tempermental, and the streets are filled with uniformed students, heads bowed from the drizzle. Men and women briskly walking with a vivacious assortment of brollies. And the young babes, oblivious to all, in their light steps and prances on pools of a grayed sky.
But that's not saying that I hate the weather, I like sunny and rainy days equally. I think there's some sorta contemporary beauty about them. Just depends if one can look beyond dark clouds or the blinding light to see it.

And oh btw, Claire's latest entry has a somewhat nostalgic poem by Robert Frost that I really like. Please do check that out. :)

Ok. I think I just had enough of sentimentality on my side. Back to pragmatism and unromantic-ness; the week's flying past and I haven't even touched my TVRP book. Exams are next week, and countless pages to survive thru. *cringecringeCRINGE*

Let the mad rush begin.

Yesterday was prolly the first b'day I celebrated this new year, and damn was it done in all insane glory. *big scheming grin*
Despite it was raining like nobody's business, and how we still managed to barbeque food was a miracle; it was bloody fun and hilarious. He might have tot he had the upper hand when he pulled out two cans of faux snow spray, but we knew better. He a loner, while we a team! (lol, not in order of merit; Moi, Justin, Elsa, Germaine, Jasmine, Simin and KorEn!)

Birthday boy here was soaked from head to toe in coke and F&N (orange), and I'm proud to say that i gave the finishing touches. Flour for a dollar!

hehe...cheap alternative. And full of damaging power ok!

Happy 26th Birthday, David! Haha..from your *third wife*!

Forget about seeing NYE pics anytime soon cos its been tough uploading it on laggy software and Sherry's been a lil busy lately. sigh.

So just a few quick hits before I hit the cleaning supplies. (mom's a-nagging to do the bloody chores.)

Today has been awfully weird, in a majorly sucky way. I got told off by some know-it-all Auntie at a nearby coffeeshop cos apparently, I *disgraced my family's honor* by playing with my boyfriend. Ok, so maybe it was more on the aggressive side since i was pretty much widening the holes on his already weathered shirt. :P

But how that applies to DISHONOURMENT is waaaay beyond me. Geesh, given that we are still in a chinese-culture/thinking orientated society, though its the 21st century. You may argue that we're being to influenced by the West, but I beg to differ. Mindsets and ideas change with every given generation, and we can't all be sticks-in-the-muds. So WTH was wrong with giggling and harmless fooling around with a loved one?
I'm pretty discerning, and I know this was my fault to an extent. But the way she said it jus pissed the shit outta me.

The last time I checked; I wasn't a sleazy figure who slept around and deserved all condemnation offered. I wasn't some loose homicidal nutcase who killed children in their sleep. So who the hell gave her the right to pass judgement and and speak to me in some condescending tone, complete with a sneering look.

Pig. Since calling her a bitch would actually mean she has smarts.

AND, not being vindictive or anything..but she was a walking fashion disaster. A fluffy pink sweater, rainbow rubber scrunchie and too-tight jeans with sandals. I never expected a colour-challenged Xu ChunMei clone to lecture me on propriety. Woah. Havoc sia.
~~~
Coincidentally, I met an old pri classmate of mine, Eekawat. Boy has he cleaned up since out schooling years. Great catching up with the old times when he told me about a fellow pri schmate, and I was blooooowwwnn away.
At the ripe old age of 18, she is currently married and has 1 child to her name. Good lord. I'm not judging her predicament, jus really shocked. Cos we used to be hi-bye frens, and she really didn't strike me as the sorta person to get into this sorta stuff. She was meek somewhat, and used to have a crush on Eekawat here. But....
Looks like time has eluded us when we weren't looking. And look where we are now.
Now, is that a good or bad thing?
Listening to: Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani
What a year 2005 has been. I dun really know where to start about the things, events, changes and experiences I've been thru. I think most ppl have crammed their last entry for the year, whereas I was prolly slacking my ass off, thinking where to celebrate the countdown.
Not tht I'm one to follow trends tho. Something along the lines of less messy (No thanks to fanatical faux snow sprays and party ribbons, not to mention drunk ppl in general), and more fun (think light booze, groovy music and crazy dance moves.)
Sadly, the gang was not complete. Ling vacationing in KL and Claire aka fellow huckle-berrier was snugly playing mahjong somewhere in Mandarin Hotel. But glad to say...we still had a helluva fun in the dying hours of the old year^^
Met up with Mena, Sherry, Tessalyn, Tiba (Mena's sis), Giva, Sharini, and the boyfren at Orchard about 7-ish. Trooped down to Yoshinoya (I know, not really choice place for glamourous dinner) whereby my two darlings revealed my surprises:
1. Mena REBONDED her hair!! Ok, before you guys say what the big deal is, HAVE you seen her hair? Its beyond maggie-mee curly, or Shirley Temple sorta curly! Unruly and uninhibited, like the epitome of 'flaming passion'. I reckon the rebonding machine must have broken after the session was done. :P:P
*Ok lah, da. Jus joking! you know how much I dig it by the amount of ogling I gave u yesterday. lol!
2. Justin didn't forget my Anniversary and Christmas afterall! The amazing necklace from Fie Japan that I always wanted had blown me away, but then came the engraved ring. OMG, I think its the most beautiful thing I've recieved this year. I think I would have teared in front of everyone but I guess the fear of runny mascara was more intimidating. Thanks darhling..love you. :)
In the end, it was Cheeky Monkeys due to my underaged other, and thankfully frens were moe than understanding. I think they cleaned it up a lil, there was lesser smoke and erm, puke. But noticeably more police on the patrol.
There was even a Temporary Police Post stationed right in front of CM?! *cringes in guilt* Music was blessfully RnB all night thru, and boy do I worship the DJ. ^^ He's like Ruben Studdard, local. Everyone was looking hot and feeling it (literally) as we busted our voices yelling the countdown...
And thts how we rocked the whole nite thru the last of two-o-o-five. Farewell.
~~~

A few high-points of this 365 days. Definitely the most lifechanging year under my notch of 18. I have:

- a cute boyfren. Thank god, spinster-in-making no more. Still in progress. :P
- great frens for life. Mena Claire Fran Ling Chris Sherry...love y'all!
- the best birthday ever, and that's definitely a first.
- spent more $$$ than I ever did before in my last few living years. Go powercard!!
-clubbed more than before. Yesh, noob here...but not anymore. *grins*
- learnt to love myself and dare to be loud, individualistic, different...me.

damn, why does this sound like some friggin award-acceptance speech?!
